“What does God want us to do?” the crowd asked Jesus. Jesus replied, “This is what God wants you to do: Believe in the one he has sent.” (John 6: 28-29)
God invites every person to believe in his only begotten Son, Jesus, whom He sent into the world to save the world, and to give the gift of eternal life to all who believe. (John 3:16-17) This means that we accept what Jesus said about himself and his relationship with the Father, the Creator of heaven and earth. For a person to grow in this belief they must set aside time, our most precious treasure, to be with Jesus. A difficult action in our overly busy world where personal agendas drive us from one thing to another and modern technology like the phone can become a tyranny. Yet, making time to quietly focus our attention on Jesus is open to all people.
Being with and listening to the One who loves us, deepens our belief and closeness to our Creator who has promised to be with us always. Out of this prayer time comes the guidance and power to live each day in a Christ-like way; giving God glory, and blessing our neighbour with loving acts.
