Are you carrying a burden that at times makes your daily life challenging, confusing, anxiety filled? If so, you might find some inspiration in the story of Eliezer of Damascus.
In Genesis 15:2 Abram has a vision in which he expresses one of his deepest concerns, a burden that he has been carrying for years. “O Sovereign Lord, what good are all your blessings when I do not have a son? Since I do not have a son, Eliezer of Damascus, a servant in my household will inherit all my wealth. You have given me no children, so one of my servants will have to be my heir.”
The Lord lifts this burden by blessing Abram and Sarah with a son in their old age, Isaac. In receiving this blessing the elderly couple expressed their faith in God by trusting and obeying. The burdens we often carry in our daily life can be eased and resolved when we honestly share them with the Lord, listen for God’s answer, and then in faith, trust and obey.
You may be wondering how Eliezer felt when Isaac was born and became the heir. Tomorrow’s One Moment Please spot will shed some light on how Eliezer dealt with anxiety in his life.
