Easter has come! Let hymns of praise be sung...
Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia! Sons of men and angels say,
Raise your joys and triumphs high,
Sing, ye heavens , and earth reply: Alleluia!
Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia! Fought the fight, the battle won,
Death in vain forbids Him rise,
Christ hath opened paradise, Alleluia!
This Hymn for Easter Day composed by Charles Wesley was first published in 1739 with eleven verses. The word Alleluia is sung at the end of each line.
