Our friend and saviour, Jesus Christ, has promised to be with us at all times. This includes easy times and difficult times. Regardless of what we are facing we do not have to face ir alone. Many people have grasped this promise throughout the difficult days of the past year.
There is a story in the Gospel of Mark about a father who brought his sick son to the disciples of Jesus asking them to heal his son. But the disciples are unable to do so. Then Jesus arrives on the scene. When the father is asked if he believes that Jesus can heal the boy, he responds, “I do believe, but help me not to doubt!” And his son is healed. When the disciples ask Jesus why they could not help the boy, Jesus answers that prayer is the key to such healing.
When we present our difficult situation to Jesus, we should do so in prayer remembering the honesty of the father who brought his son to be healed. Life will always have challenges but we do not have to face them alone. Prayer is the key to receiving the gift of faith that will enable us to overcome each challenge with the help of Jesus.
