Here we are into Day 5 of 2021. Did you make New Year Resolutions? Whether you did or not, (I usually do not because I soon forget what they were!), here is a suggestion of a book to read before you make any hard and fast resolution.
One of the very short Books in the Bible, 25 verses, is the Letter written by Jude, the brother of Jesus and James. You will find it in the New Testament just before the Book of Revelation.
Why do I suggest reading it? Jude wrote his letter in about A.D. 65 to remind believers everywhere that they need to be a welcoming community and a vigilant community to ensure that the Good News of Jesus Christ continues to spread throughout the world. The Good News is that “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” Our response to this Good News is to resolve to live our life ethically, following what Jesus taught and demonstrated in his daily life. And we are not expected to accomplish this alone; God is willing and able to keep us from stumbling and going astray. May our New Year Resolutions express our desire for a closer walk with Jesus our Lord.
A blessed New Year to you and your family.
