A Hymn has been on my mind which goes like this; “Count your blessings, name them one by one; And it will surprise you what the Lord has done,” Rev. J. Oatman, Jr. Humm, I thought, how have I been blessed since COVID19 arrived? I was in for a surprise.
Prior to the pandemic I was spending 3 hours 3 days a week travelling to and from a gym in order to participate in the Brain in Motion Study Phase II. At the gym I would walk quickly around the track for an ever increasing length of time. There was lots happening which broke up the monotony. After COVID arrived the gym was shuttered. I was asked to continue on my own at home. I did so by using my treadmill. The walking has continued; but there is a difference.
At home I realized I could walk with my eyes closed. This meant I was not being distracted. With my eyes closed I discovered that I could focus on my morning prayers. The time passes unnoticed as I commune with Jesus, my Lord and Saviour, lifting up family and friends, health workers and the world, to God asking that all be blessed. At the end of the walking exercise I realized that I have been both physically and spiritually blessed and I’ve avoided 3 hours of travelling. Yes, surprised by God!
