Snow!! Yes, Thanksgiving Day was more memorable than expected. I awoke on the morning of October 12 to the silent accumulation of white snowflakes on the balcony railing. By mid- morning they measured about a quarter inch thick. They were gone by noon; sadly, no snowshoeing this Thanksgiving.
However there is much to give thanks for even though dark clouds linger in the sky. This prayer of thanksgiving was composed by John Dowden, Bishop of Edinburgh, 1886-1910.
O Almighty and everlasting God, Who has given us the fruits of the earth in their season, and has crowned the year with your goodness; give us grateful hearts, that we may truly thank You for all your loving-kindness, and worthily magnify your holy Name: through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
